Manaslu Conservation Area, Gorkha District

If you’re dreaming of an off-the-beaten-path trekking adventure in Nepal, the Manaslu Circuit Trek should be at the top of your list. Our 16-day Himalayan journey around Mt. Manaslu (8163m), which is the eighth-highest peak in the world. This trek offers everything from jaw-dropping mountain views to ancient Buddhist culture, alpine forests, and remote valleys that are untouched and unexplored by mass tourism.

Unlike the crowded Everest and Annapurna routes, trekking in the Manaslu region feels raw, authentic, and peaceful. You’ll walk through traditional Tibetan-influenced villages like Samagaon and Samdo, cross the high and stunning Larkya La Pass (5160m), and explore monasteries and landscapes that feel straight out of a movie.

Permits and Regulatory Info for Manaslu Circuit Trek

Since the Manaslu region is a restricted area, you’ll need a few special trekking permits to enter the restricted area. But don’t worry about that. If you book your trekking adventure with Nepal Boundary Trekking, we’ll handle all of these for you:

  • 1. Manaslu Restricted Area Permit (MRAP)
  • 2. Annapurna Conservation Area Permit (ACAP)
  • 3. Additional Local Taxes/ Fees

Also, keep in mind that a licensed trekking guide is mandatory, and solo trekking is not allowed. You must trek in a group of at least two people (excluding the guide). This regulation is all about safety and sustainability. Honestly, having a guide who knows the terrain and local culture makes the journey way more enriching.

Best Season to Trek the Manaslu Circuit

Timing is very important when it comes to high-altitude trekking in Nepal, and the Manaslu Circuit is no exception. The best time to do this trek is during the spring and autumn seasons:

  • 1. Spring (March to May): Expect stable weather, clear skies, and beautiful rhododendron blooms along the trail.
  • 2. Autumn (September to November): Known for crystal-clear mountain views, cooler temperatures, and dry, well-defined trails.

The spring season is warmer than the autumn season. The spring season is the best time for trekking. Avoid the monsoon season (June–August) due to landslides and slippery paths, and winter (December–February) unless you're well-prepared for snow and cold.

Alternative Treks Around Manaslu

If you have extra time and want to explore deeper into the spiritual side of the Himalayas, consider adding the Tsum Valley Trek to your Manaslu Circuit itinerary. Known as the Hidden Valley of Happiness, Tsum Valley is culturally rich, less explored, and heavily influenced by Tibetan Buddhism.

Here’s why the Tsum Valley Trek is worth it:

  • 1. You’ll visit ancient monasteries like Mu Gompa and Rachen Gompa.
  • 2. Meet local people still living traditional lifestyles untouched by modern development.
  • 3. Trek through deep valleys, pine forests, and peaceful alpine pastures.

With Nepal Boundary Trekking, you’ll get expert guidance, all permits handled, and the peace of mind of trekking with a local team that prioritizes safety, authenticity, and responsible travel.

Langtang National Park, Rasuwa District

Langtang Valley Trek – The Valley of Glaciers

The Langtang trek is one of Nepal’s most rewarding trekking adventures with breathtaking scenery and a peaceful atmosphere. Located within the stunning Langtang National Park, this trek takes you deep inside the heart of Langtang Valley. Langtang Valley is also widely known as the Valley of Glaciers. You’ll walk through lush forests, alpine meadows, and traditional Tamang villages, and all surrounded by towering snow-capped peaks.

Less crowded than the Everest and Annapurna regions, but equally spectacular. The Langtang Valley Trek is perfect for those seeking a Himalayan Journey closer to Kathmandu. Perfect for trekkers who want a scenic trail, rich cultural encounters, and a rewarding experience in a short time period. You will witness incredible views of Langtang Lirung (7,227m), Ganesh Himal, and other majestic peaks, and experience the Tibetan-influenced lifestyle of the Tamang and Sherpa communities.

Difficulties of The Langtang Valley Trek

The Langtang Valley Trek is moderate in difficulty, but knowing the main challenges will help you prepare:

  • 1. Long Walking Hours: With 6–7 hours of uphill and downhill walking daily (around 70–80 km).
  • 2. Unpredictable Weather: Conditions can shift quickly, so be ready for sudden rain, fog, or cold.
  • 3. High Altitude: The trek reaches up to 4,773m at Kyanjin Ri, where the risk of altitude sickness increases.

Tips to Overcome These Challenges:

  • 1. Train at least a month before your trek with regular walks, cardio, and uphill climbs.
  • 2. Walk at a comfortable pace and don’t overexert yourself.
  • 3. Drink plenty of water to stay hydrated.
  • 4. If you feel symptoms of altitude sickness, descend immediately and rest.

Langtang Valley Trek Route

Our 11-day Langtang Valley trek begins in Kathmandu, where you will be welcomed and briefed about the journey.  A scenic drive takes you to the gateway to the Langtang region, Syabrubesi. From here, the real trek starts, along with the Langtang Khola River, passing the lush forests and waterfalls on the way to Lama Hotel. The trail then ascends through oak and rhododendron forests to reach Langtang Village and offers the first views of Langtang Lirung. Continuing onward, you arrive at Kyanjin Gompa, a beautiful high-altitude village surrounded by stunning peaks. Here you can explore the monastery and the local cheese factory.

An early morning hike to Tserko Ri rewards you with a breathtaking sunrise over the Langtang range before retracing your steps back through Lama Hotel and Syabrubesi. The journey ends with a return drive to Kathmandu, followed by a free day to explore the city before your departure.

Best Time to Trek Langtang Valley

The best seasons for the Langtang Valley Trek arespring and autumn.

  • Spring (March–May) – Pleasant temperatures, blooming rhododendrons, and clear mountain views make this one of the most beautiful times to trek.
  • Autumn (September–November) – Crisp air, stable weather, and stunning visibility of the snow-capped peaks.

Winter (December–February) is cold with heavy snowfall at higher altitudes, which can make the trek more challenging, while the monsoon season (June–August) brings heavy rain, slippery trails, and leeches, though the valley looks lush and green.

For the best experience, choose spring and autumn when the trails are at their most scenic and the weather is more predictable.

Did Annapurna circuit with Yogesh and it was the best experience ever! Yogesh made sure we have the best of everything: he selected amazing spots for us to stop at and enjoy, chose the best guesthouses from what was available and made sure we get to try a lot of new things! I’ve seen Nepal from a different perspective and got to know a lot of culture on this trek, and tried some really great food! Thank you Yogesh for taking care of us, showing us your country and telling us everything about the history and the culture! Can’t wait for our trek to Everest Base Camp one day! Namaste 🙏

The trek was amazing! We went on Manaslu Circuit with my friend. Yogesh helped us with everything, organised the transport, booked the hotels, stayed in touch with us during our trek too. I enjoyed the food, the views, plenty of open hearted people around. Thanks to Yogesh I am willing to come back to Nepal next time and start a new journey!

It was my first time in Nepal but I have to visit it again! :) We had 14 days trekking to Everest Base Camp(5364m) -> Cho La Pass( 5420m) -> Gokyo lakes. It is hard but worth seeing! Our smiley guide, Yogesh, made the trave interesting, funny and exciting! He took care about logistic, tickets, hotels and handled situation professionally when my friend had high altitude sickness. On the top of that we had a great time in Kathmandu and Bhaktapur!

If you are going to Nepal, make use of this company My friend (a Spanish man) and I (a Canadian woman) asked these guys to accompany us in Nepal. We weren't sure if we were going to need their help, but turned out to be a great decision. Consider: Its very likely that you will get sick during your hike and it helps to have experts helping you, it helps to have someone that speaks the local language, once you are there you will want to explore more activities that you didn't think of before hand and having someone who can arrange it for you quickly is so helpful. Lastly, you won't lose your privacy by having them around. -They helped us way beyond trekking and many times gave us their help without asking for money. - They resolved the language barrier - Imagine them as the genie that bring all your wishes come true in the most efficient way

This review relates to the time I spent trekking with Kanchha (Pritam) Lama in the autumn of 2008. At the time, Kanchha was working as guide with his brother Jagat, and the two of us spent two months hiking together in the Annapurna and Khumbu regions. Kanchha was an excellent guide, knew most of the people in each of the villages, and always found the best accommodations. I will always remember Kanchha and our porter Roj singing along the trails in the Annapurna, playing cards in the evenings, and the parties we had during the Dashain festival. Whilst we hiked, Kanchha taught me Nepali language, some of which I still remember. Even after eleven years, we are still in contact and I highly recommend him as a guide.

It was my second trekking visit to Nepal and second time utilising the skills and expertise of Yogesh and his colleagues as guides on the Annapurna route. Yogesh was very informative, supporting, friendly and patient. Things don't always go as planned in Nepal, such as transport or unexpected weather conditions, but Yogesh planned everything as well as he could under the circumstances and made us feel welcome and safe at all times. When returning to Nepal, for trekking or site seeing, I will always contact Yogesh and would recommend Nepal Boundary Trekking Pvt.Ltd to anyone wishing to explore Nepal and everything it has to offer. Namaste
